I am in the midst of moving my practice to the Upper East Side. It’s an opportunity to sort, delete, reflect and think. Going through the many books I have, enables me to think about which of my books about psychology and psychoanalysis still feels relevant, and which ones will not make it to my new office; Which ones should I reread? Which ones seem exciting, and innovative, and which ones are so good, making me feel like I wish I had written them?
And what about my couch? should I buy a new one or paint the one I have, risking an unconventional technique? and the colors of my new walls? The move challenges me to make decisions, take risks, and let go of the old. It is exciting and energizing.
